The Change Ninja
Change Fatigue:
Fact or Fiction?
12 scenarios. 2 minutes. Discover whether it's really change that exhausts you — or something else entirely.
You're about to score 12 change scenarios based on how each one makes you feel.
Don't overthink it — go with your gut reaction. There are no right or wrong answers.
And yet…
All 12 scenarios are about change. Every single one requires you to do something new and different.
The first 6 triggered your brain's reward centre — dopamine, endorphins, excitement, motivation. You had energy to spare and zero fatigue.
The second 6 triggered your threat response — adrenalin, cortisol, fear, fight-or-flight. Just thinking about them was exhausting.
It's not change fatigue. It's 'potentially bad outcome for me' fatigue. And the best news? You can change your response to nearly all types of change — even the bad stuff you can't influence.
4 Ways to Beat 'Change Fatigue'
- Reframe the change. "This is an opportunity to finally…" Turn the threat into a quest your brain actually wants to pursue.
- Imagine the future in 3D technicolour. Write it down, say it out loud, describe it with emotive language. The more you do this, the more you create positive outcome data for your brain.
- Change your environment. Don't focus directly on the thing that triggered the fatigue. Keep it in peripheral vision while you get on with what matters.
- Learn the Ninja approach. The Change Ninja books and courses give you a full toolkit to stay energised through any type of change.
